Workshop Tour — Inside the WildBeard Legacy Co Studio

Most jewelry brands don't show you where their rings are made. That's because most rings aren't made anywhere — they're ordered from overseas manufacturers, drop-shipped, and rebranded. There's no workshop to show you. There's no craftsman to introduce.

At WildBeard Legacy Co, there is. One studio. One craftsman. Fort Collins, Colorado. And we're proud to show you exactly where your ring is built.

Where We Work

The WildBeard Legacy Co studio is located in Fort Collins, Colorado — a city with a deep tradition of craft, independence, and doing things the right way. Our workspace is purpose-built for precision ring-making: organized, well-lit, and equipped with the tools required to build rings that last a lifetime.

Fort Collins sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains, and that geography shapes everything we do. The materials we work with — wood, antler, meteorite, stone — reflect the natural world that surrounds us. The craftsmanship reflects the values of a region that respects things built to last.

The Tools of the Trade

Building rings by hand requires a specific set of tools — and knowing how to use them. Here's what you'd find in the WildBeard studio:

  • Precision lathe and rotary tools — for shaping, sizing, and finishing ring blanks to exact dimensions
  • Diamond-tipped cutting tools — for channel cutting in tungsten, ceramic, and other hard materials
  • Resin mixing and curing station — controlled environment for mixing, pouring, and curing memorial resin inlays
  • Polishing wheels and compounds — progressive polishing from rough to mirror finish
  • Laser engraving equipment — for precision interior and exterior engraving
  • Magnification and inspection tools — for quality control at every stage
  • Ring sizing mandrels and gauges — for accurate sizing confirmation
  • Natural material preparation tools — for cutting, shaping, and stabilizing wood, antler, meteorite, and stone inlays

The Materials on the Bench

On any given day, the WildBeard workbench might hold:

  • Tungsten carbide blanks waiting to be channeled and inlaid
  • A piece of Gibeon meteorite being shaped for a ring inlay
  • Stabilized walnut or koa wood being cut to channel width
  • A resin pour curing with cremation ashes sealed inside
  • A titanium band being polished to a satin finish
  • A Damascus billet being shaped and etched to reveal its pattern

Every material on that bench has a story. Every ring being built has a person behind it — someone who lost someone, someone marking a milestone, someone who wants to carry something meaningful for the rest of their life.

One Craftsman, One Ring at a Time

WildBeard Legacy Co is not a team. It's not a production line. It's one person — Justin — building every ring from start to finish. That means:

  • The person who answers your consultation questions is the same person who builds your ring
  • The person who handles your memorial materials is the same person who seals them inside your band
  • The person who inspects your ring before shipping is the same person who built it
  • There is no handoff, no quality gap, no communication breakdown between design and production

This is what it means to commission a ring from a craftsman rather than order a product from a company. The accountability is total. The care is personal. The result is a ring that couldn't have been built any other way.

Why Fort Collins?

Fort Collins is a city that values craft, independence, and quality. It's home to makers, builders, and people who do things the right way because that's the only way worth doing them. It's also a city surrounded by the natural world — the mountains, the plains, the rivers — that inspires the materials and aesthetic of every WildBeard ring.

Building memorial jewelry in Fort Collins means building it in a place where the land itself carries memory. Where the elk shed their antlers in the foothills. Where the rivers run cold and clear. Where the sky at night is dark enough to see the stars that meteorite traveled through for billions of years before landing here.

That's not incidental. It's part of what we build into every ring.
