Custom Design Process — How to Commission Your Ring
Commissioning a custom ring from WildBeard Legacy Co is simpler than most people expect. There's no complicated form to fill out, no confusing options matrix, no pressure to decide everything upfront. It starts with a conversation — and we guide you through every decision from there.
Here's exactly how the process works, from first contact to finished ring in your hands.
Step 1 — Reach Out and Schedule a Consultation
The first step is simple: reach out. You can start by filling out our consultation form, sending us a message, or calling us directly. Tell us the basics — what you're looking for, who it's for, and any ideas you already have. Don't worry if you don't have everything figured out. That's what the consultation is for.

Step 2 — The Design Consultation
During your consultation, we'll work through the key decisions together:
- Purpose: Memorial ring, wedding band, everyday wear, or a combination
- Base material: Tungsten, titanium, Damascus steel, ceramic, carbon fiber, silver, or another material
- Inlay materials: Wood, antler, meteorite, opal, turquoise, resin, or natural materials you provide
- Memorial inclusions: Cremation ashes, pet fur, human hair, or other meaningful materials
- Width and profile: How wide the band is and the shape of the cross-section
- Finish: High polish, satin, matte, brushed, or a combination
- Engraving: Interior or exterior text, dates, coordinates, or symbols
- Ring size: We'll confirm your size and recommend sizing up if you're between sizes
By the end of the consultation, we'll have a clear picture of exactly what we're building. We'll provide a quote and a production timeline before any commitment is made.

Step 3 — Design Confirmation and Deposit
Once we've agreed on the design, we'll send you a written summary of exactly what we're building — materials, dimensions, inlays, engraving, and timeline. You review it, confirm it's right, and place a deposit to begin production.
We don't start building until the design is confirmed in writing. No surprises. No assumptions. What we agreed to is what gets built.
Step 4 — Sending Your Memorial Materials
If your ring includes cremation ashes, pet fur, human hair, or other personal materials, we'll provide detailed instructions for safely packaging and shipping them to us. We've received memorial materials from across the country and handle every shipment with complete care and respect.
What to expect:
- We provide specific packaging instructions to protect your materials in transit
- We confirm receipt of your materials as soon as they arrive
- Your materials are stored securely and handled only during the ring-building process
- Any unused materials are returned to you with your finished ring

Step 5 — Production
Once your materials arrive and your design is confirmed, production begins. Most custom rings have a production time of 3–6 weeks. We'll keep you updated at key milestones — when production starts, when the inlay work is complete, and when your ring is in final finishing.
We don't rush production. The timeline exists because building a ring right takes time. If something doesn't meet our standard during production, we rebuild it. You'll never receive a ring we're not proud of.

Step 6 — Final Approval and Shipping
Before your ring ships, we'll send you photos of the finished piece for your approval. If anything isn't right, we address it before it leaves the studio. Once you approve, your ring is packaged in a premium presentation box and shipped with tracking and insurance.
Most customers receive their ring within 1–3 business days of shipping, depending on location.

Frequently Asked Questions — Custom Design Process
Can I make changes after the design is confirmed?
Minor changes can sometimes be accommodated before production begins. Once production starts, changes may not be possible depending on the stage of the build. This is why we take time during the consultation to get the design exactly right before confirming.
What if I don't know what I want?
That's completely normal. Most customers come to us with a feeling — a sense of what they want the ring to mean — rather than a specific design. We're good at translating feelings into design decisions. Start the consultation and we'll figure it out together.
Do you offer rush production?
In some cases, we can accommodate expedited timelines. Reach out during your consultation to discuss your timeline and we'll let you know what's possible.
What if I'm not happy with the finished ring?
We send photos before shipping for your approval. If something isn't right, we address it. Our goal is for you to receive a ring you're proud to wear — and we stand behind our work.
Can I commission a ring as a gift?
Yes. Many of our rings are commissioned as gifts — for a spouse, a parent, a friend who has experienced loss. We can coordinate timing, packaging, and shipping to support a gift presentation. Just let us know during your consultation.
Ready to Start?
